On Monday, July 6th, Juice WRLD’s estate released his seventh single ahead of his first posthumous album, “Legends Never Die”. The song features vocals from Halsey, who announced the song via social media along side Jarad's account. “Life’s A Mess” marks the second time Halsey and Juice WRLD have collaborated, the first being his verse on the remix of Halsey’s smash hit “Without Me”. Before his death, the two were good friends, and after his passing, Halsey has repeatedly mentioned him on social media sharing her memories of him and posting pictures of them together.
The song is an uplifting, and motivational song, encouraging not only the listener, but also the artists themselves to keep going in a life that is a mess. The song opens with Juice asking if we have ever fallen in love with some just because of broken promises and pretty lies. He then goes on to say that if the love is real we will feel it deep inside our souls, and we should not give up on it when times get tough. He then encourages us to live life to the fullest and then be able to move on, before jumping right into the chorus. “I belong with the one put on this Earth for me”, these are the beautiful words the open the chorus of the song, and mean exactly what they say. He also encourages those who feel like they are alone saying “everyone has there someone”. Then he goes on to suggest his struggles with drugs stating, “I get high when I’m upset” which would ultimately end up taking his life. The next verse finds Juice contemplating his life, as well as the relationships he shared before jumping back to the chorus. Over most of the track, Halsey can be heard humming and on the chorus she sings along with him. On the final verse of the song, Halsey closes us out, delivering a poetic rebuttal to Juice WRLD’s chorus. The verse mirrors the rest of the song, almost like she’s giving the other point of view found in this song. She sings that he has completed her life. She’s also afraid of him leaving her, which is a fear that did come true for all of his fans. The song is very well written and any writer should be jealous.
So...what now? We know that this song appears on Higgins' posthumous album titled "Legends Never Die", along with 14 other tracks. The album is released is July 10th (the same day this article is). I think it's safe to say that although Jarad Anthony Higgins AKA Juice WRLD is no longer here, his legacy will live on forever, because, Legends never die.
