On Thursday July 16th, Norwegian rapper, singer, writer, and record producer, released a new track titled "Rise". The single comes along-side the preorder of his sophomore album "Peder". The song is the third single from the upcoming album coming after "How To Do Nothing" and "Postclubridehomemusic". Lido announced the single via instagram sharing a snipit of the song captined "Thursday".
"Rise" is heavily influenced by elements of pop and R&B alike, while still puting his own outer space beats on the song. The song finds the main charecter (Peder) confronting not only his love interest, but himself, trying to find the true meaning of life. This is present in the lyrics "How do you capture the big picture? Who do you follow when your phone dies?" where we find Lido, real name Peder Losnegård, seperating what he knows from the digital world, and what he can understand about the real world. Lido has said that the upcoming album is centered around a boy on a spaceship (aka Peder). He's trying to connect with both himself and the charecer thats in his head. When one is casually listening to this song, its easy to miss the bigger picture, but when we step back and look at what is really happening, we come back to two questions, how do you caption the bigger picture? And who do we truly follow when we're not connected to the internet? The song is very strong both lyricaly and production wise, and its safe to assume we can expect more quality work like this on Lido's upcoming album.
More about "Peder". "Peder is expected for release on September 18th, almost four years after his incredible album "Everything". Unlike the sounds found on "Everything" these singles are lighter, and not as dark. As previously stated, the album follows a boy named Peder, who lives on a spaceship, giving reason for the otherworldly sounds found on the three previously released albums. We can only guess what "Peder" will sound like, but if these singles are even a hint of what is to come, I think it is safe to say we are truly in for a treat.
