This Month In Songs: May, 2020

This week we wanted to make a list of what we were listening this May, and to highlight these songs for the gems that they are. Listen to the playlist on Spotify in the link below:

And without further ado, here are the top picks of May, 2020...

Song recommendations:

Silly Girl by Chloe Moriondo

Silly Girl is a ukulele song in Chloe Moriondo’s album Rabbit Hearted. Chloe’s soft voice makes for a relatable and mellow song.

Pumpkin by The Regrettes

This song was the first I heard by The Regrettes and I’d say it’s a good sample of the band’s overall style. It’s upbeat and a good song to listen to in any situation.

The Kids Don’t Wanna to Come Home by Declan McKenna

The Kids Don’t Wanna Come home is a bit of a protest song about today’s youth and their frustration at not being able to do anything about today’s world problems. If you haven’t heard of Declan Mckenna, I recommend this song as it is catchy and sure to get you listening to more.

Trying by Cavetown

Trying is a song on Cavetown’s new album Sleepyhead. Also a ukulele song, and it describes feeling sadness and self loathing, but reminds you to stay hopeful. It’s a good song if you are feeling sad and need something to relate to and make you feel better.

My Heart is Buried In Venice by Ricky Montgomery

A soft rock love song. Ricky’s unique voice goes well with the song. I would recommend it as a good background song for working or a song to listen to when you need to slow down.

OK by Wallows

An optimistic pop song with electronic aspects. This is a song to listen to if you need a little more energy throughout your day, as well as a great introduction to Wallows.

TANTRUM by Waterparks

Waterparks’s song TANTRUM is literally a tantrum about the stereotypical pop punk band that Waterparks obviously don’t want to be. Since most people aren’t in a pop punk band I don’t think it will be relatable to many people, but lyrics aside, if you are feeling frustrated or angry this is the song to go to.

i need to be alone. by Girl in Red

A song that I rediscovered and have been listening to a lot lately, I Need To Be Alone. is very relatable just by looking at the title. Girl in Red’s voice makes the song upbeat and happy while still having a relatable point.

God In Jeans by Ryan Beaty

In my personal opinion, this is a mellow song that is perfect for a picnic in the shade. I highly recommend it.

Girls Love Toast by The Hold up

This is a reggae style, rap infused song. It’s perfect for nearly any occasion when you want to feel relaxed and take some stress off.

These great songs made the final list this month, but we can't wait to show you what else we have in store.
